Hey! I am Sumedha
Glad to have you here..
THE JOURNEY
I completed my MBA in Cardiff, UK, and started working over there. A couple of years later, I moved to Seattle, WA. I started my career as Business Analyst at Microsoft and moved from BA to Project Manager to Program Manager to Engagement Manager. But...
...for many years I performed a variety of jobs none of which were fulfilling personally, but I did them as expected of me.
Interestingly enough my first corporate job introduced me to my first mindful experience.
“ Yoga came from India” The roots of Yoga lie in India. Being an Indian, I have never done physical asanas in my life. All I was chasing is a career, levels, promotions, and more money. I grew up in an environment where the scriptures and the Bhagavad Gita were very much part of life. My grandmother recites Sanskrit mantras and Dohas every day.
I knew my soul was seeking something more meaningful in life than what I was doing in my professional career.
I felt an internal struggle of conforming to societal norms. I was chasing external happiness and for others to feel proud of me. My parents and other family members were happy to see me working in a big firm.
I was chasing levels, and one day I asked my manager about his weekend plans. He responded that he planned to attend a morning yoga class. Out of curiosity and to please my manager, I went to the same studio and placed my mat close to his. I remember feeling so disappointed in myself after the yoga class.
I was very sensitive and I was always inclined to please others rather than to understand and please myself.
I left my job and went to India in search of something..
I knew I had to pursue a path to self-awareness in my desire to become the best version of myself each day. In 2012, I moved to India to study Yoga Sciences and Consciousness from SVYASA where I completed MSc in Yoga therapy. Apart from Asanas, I am a big fan of the topic of Pranayama (breathing exercises).
When we work on freeing the breath through Pranayama, we are also working on letting the life energy flow through the body.
It has the effect of energizing, relaxing the body, and letting everything fall into place. Literally, it is an increase and balance of life energy in your system.
"..all I did was move a little
and now I can’t stop smiling."
I have been counseling students to lead a healthy lifestyle and have been guiding them to attain their health, fitness, and spiritual goals
In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness, and a dose of inspiration to help students deepen their practice.
I seek to help others thrive in life by nurturing body, mind, and soul with yoga, and my hope is that each person feels refreshed, nourished, and balanced after practicing. I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the loving wisdom my teachers have shared with me.
I knew that I had found purpose, passion, happiness, and freedom, and I’ve made it my mission in life to inspire others to do the same, no matter their starting point.
